What do the general facilities at Abercrombie include?

Abercrombie Student Accommodation is located on the Darlington side of the main campus next to the Sydney Business School’s hub in the Abercrombie Building. The residence accommodates approximately 200 students in single studios with their own kitchenettes and en-suite bathrooms.

There are also shared areas within the building including a large communal kitchen, art studio, entertainment lounge, outside patio, break out areas, meeting rooms, study rooms, bike storage and laundry facilities.

Rent 

$433 - $460 per week (dependent upon contract length)

Facilities

Each studio in Abercrombie Student Accommodation is equipped with a kitchenette, en-suite bathroom and study area.

Apartments include:

  • overhead shelving
  • desk lamp
  • wardrobe
  • convection oven
  • two-burner gas cooktop with rangehood
  • refrigerator
  • fan
  • electric heater

The building provides professional cleaning in communal areas and 24 hour CCTV, and patrolled by Campus Security.

What should I bring with me from home?

Save money by bringing supplies from home and for everything else you need, you can visit Broadway Shopping Centre – it’s just a 5-minute bus ride away.

All standard single studio apartments are furnished with a king single bed, mattress, mattress protector, desk and desk chair, however you will need to bring other items with you like:

• Bed Linen

• Pillows

• Quilt

• Coat Hangers

• Towels

For your convenience, (particularly for those who are getting straight off a plane), we have linen packs available for purchase before you arrive. To order these log into your Resident Portal (where you applied for your room), add it to your cart and pay for it before you arrive. You can do all of this online so it’s easy!

For cooking in your studio there is a convection oven/microwave, gas stove top and a refrigerator. You will need to provide your own cooking pans, pots, utensils, etc. You will need to bring for your own plates, cutlery, mugs and glasses. We have a kitchen pack available for purchase online with all the basic items to set up your kitchen.

How much is the laundry?

The Laundry machines are not coin-operated. You will need to load money on your student card via SydPay .

$4 for a wash cycle 

$3.50 for a dry cycle

Both domestic and international students

What are your check-in times and days?

Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm, Saturday & Sunday 10am to 4pm

Do you offer after hours check-in?

Yes, please ensure that you have notified us during business hours of your after hours arrival details so that we can prepare for your arrival. Once you have arrived please call the Duty Manager on 0466 560 583.

Is there extra storage outside my apartment?

Beds are designed a little higher so you can put luggage under them however there is no additional storage outside of your room. If you have items you wish to store you will need to contact a local storage service provider.

How do I connect the internet/phone?

There is no phone in the room. For internet, you will be able to connect to the Residents WIFI via your USYD UniKey.

Is wireless internet available?

Yes we have unlimited Wi-Fi at this property and wireless internet through the building.

What is a Bond?

A bond is a payment that acts as security against the resident meeting the terms of their residence agreement.

How much is the Bond?

The bond is equivalent to 4 weeks rent.

What is an Inventory Report?

Upon arrival we must prepare an ‘Inventory Report’, which records the property’s general condition, including fittings and fixtures. You will be able to complete the Inventory Report via the student portal within the first 48 hours of moving into the residence. 

How do I receive my Bond back?

Your bond will be processed within 60 days of vacating. 

If I wanted to break my lease, what are the costs associated with this?

If you wish to terminate your lease early, you will need to submit a Booking Variation request via the USYD student portal. You will also need to pay a $200 termination fee as well as rent for the remainder of the contract or find a replacement to take over.
