The newest accommodation for JCU Townsville features a range of spaces to study, relax and socialise in.

Located next to another new project, JCU’s Technology Innovation Complex, this new student accommodation is home to more than 400 students. Designed to provide contemporary and affordable student accommodation in a secure, safe, and environmentally sustainable environment, the facility features study bedrooms in group-share accommodation, high-quality communal facilities, and a centralised, self-catered ‘master-chef’ style kitchen and dining space.
UniLodge JCU Halls of Residence - Burralga Yumba achieved NPAS accreditation in 2025. The National Property Accreditation Scheme (NPAS) is an industry-led program that is owned, governed, developed and administered by the Student Accommodation Association (SAA) to assist national education stakeholders to identify, promote and support quality managed student accommodation businesses which provide accommodation for the exclusive use of students. NPAS represents a stamp of quality, enabling students to make an informed choice about their accommodation. For a student accommodation property to be NPAS accredited, it must comply with the minimum standards set by the SAA with respect to amenity, facility, security, customer service and management processes.
BBQ and outdoor dining areas are available for use within both the Roof Terrace and external courtyard dining area. Seating, BBQ, and water facilities available.
High speed Wi-Fi throughout the building
A secure bicycle storeroom is available for residents via an external entrance on the ground floor. Includes one space for mobility scooter and charging point for electric bicycles. Visitor spaces are located at rear of building.
Complimentary Outdoor parking is available for residents and are subject to availability.
Centralised, Self-catered ‘master-chef’ style kitchen. The MasterChef kitchen is self-catered where students manage their own meal requirements in a communal centralised facility.
The space will consist of a series of cooking islands, wet preparation islands and microwave zones. Students will be provided with individual dry store lockers and lockable fridge and freezer compartments.
A range of communal facilities available (study, social and activity spaces- including music room, media lounge, and games area as well as sky lounge and roof terrace space)
Residents can access the JCU Student Association Fitness Centre and sporting grounds within the JCU Bebegu Yumba campus on Angus Smith Drive. An additional fee may be payable for use of the facilities.
On-site laundry includes washing machine and dryers that can be utilised via a card based-cashless payment system. Laundry room features; Ironing station with Ironing board and iron, stainless dual tub and sorting bench.
UniLodge staff available to assist during business hours and UniLodge Residential Assistants available afterhours.
Take in the view at the Roof Garden Sky Lounge and deck area. Visit the private tropical courtyard with self-catered kitchen and edible garden on the ground floor. Both spaces Include a variety of seating with WIFI access and charging points throughout.
Right next door, there is a 300 computer lab available for use with printing facilities. Printing costs are students own and funds can be added to JCU student account.
SunBus – Townsville Bus company runs throughout the JCU campus and accommodation.

Residents can access the Library within the JCU University campus. Building 18.
There are plenty of cafes and food on campus, hospital district or shopping centre with Stockland about 10 minutes down the road. As well as many vending machines spread across campus if you need a quick snack.
A large TV will feature within the shared Media room space. TV’s will also be available for use within the Sky lounge with access to watch movies and play video games.
Communal and collaborative Study/meeting spaces available to allow students to study away from their rooms, either as individuals or in study groups. Dedicated study rooms include group work tables, pin boards and white boards, and LCD screens suitable for portable device input.
