Behind The Scenes - UniLodge Victoria University Residential Advisor

UniLodge VU Res Lif Program

What do you like most about your role as a Residential Advisor?

I love hosting the events that we do with the residents, my favourites of which include Sunday BBQs, Mini Golf, Bowling and the Semester Ball. I love these events because they bring people together and give us a great opportunity to make new friends.

Why did you apply for the job?

The reason that I became a Residential Advisor (RA) is that I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and meet more people! I was excited for the amazing opportunities that being an RA has offered, for example the events we get to plan and host.

What are you studying/where?

I am currently in my third year of studying Exercise Science at Victoria University.

If a new resident walked past you in the building what would you stop and chat to them about?

When talking to a new resident, I always make sure to have a chat with them and ask them what course they are studying. I talk about events we have to offer and how they are a great way to meet new people in the building.

Why is the Residential Life Program so important for residents?

The Residential Life Program is important to our residents because it is the way to meet people and step out of your comfort zone - plus it’s great fun! The events from the Program are the perfect way for students to have a break from study and the university. And if you are new to the property and the area, these events also give you an opportunity to get more comfortable and familiar with the local shops and the surroundings.

What has been your favourite event/program/time that you have participated in as Residential Advisor?

One of my favourite events that I have participated as an RA was mini golf at Holey Moley at the start of this year. It is such a fun way to meet new people and have a great time playing some mini golf.

Do you have any advice or comments to give the person reading this when looking to live at UniLodge Victoria University?

Some advice I will give for people looking at living in UniLodge Victoria University is that we’re located right across the road from Victoria University Footscray Park campus and it is super convenient to go to uni. Residential Life Program is amazing and a great way to do something different during your study breaks that you might have never thought of otherwise.
