Peter Bates is a civil engineer by profession having graduated from the University of Queensland in Brisbane. Peter started with the construction arm of Lend Lease, Civil & Civic in 1987 in Brisbane and enjoyed a 19 year career with Lend Lease. His time with Lend Lease took him to many locations in Australia and into Asia where he spent nine years in Bangkok, Singapore and Shanghai in senior management roles.

Peter oversaw the integration of the Bovis business into Lend Lease following the acquisition of Bovis by Lend Lease in 1999. He was responsible for developing the Asian business strategy for Bovis Lend Lease which saw significant growth in this region after the Asia financial crisis of the late nineties. Peter’s experience in Asia brought him into contact with many different social and business cultures and he has had success in building a strong culture of success in growing businesses.

Peter returned to Australia in July 2004 to assume the role of General Manager for Bovis Lend Lease in Queensland. During this time the Bovis Lend Lease business grew from a turnover of $150m to in excess of $400m and was responsible for delivering notable projects such as the new Gallery of Modern Art for the Queensland government and the 69 level Aurora Tower in Brisbane.

Peter joined Meridien Student Living in September 2006 and assumed responsibilities as Chief Executive for the UniLodge business at that time.

Eleanor

Eleanor is recognised nationally and internationally for her expertise in quality assurance, customer service, change management and building high performing teams, and was awarded the prestigious Telstra Queensland Business Woman of the Year in 2006.

She has worked in over 10 countries and has a depth of experience in operational management having held senior executive roles with Hilton International and most recently with Carlton Group of Hotels, where she held the position of Group General Manager for their hotel operation, reporting directly to the owners in Hong Kong.

Eleanor also has high profile business relationships and acumen that stem from her positions on the University of Queensland Senate, the Premier’s Roundtable in Queensland, and she is a board member of the Southbank Corporation.

Appointed as General Manager Operations at UniLodge in March 2007, Eleanor plans to focus on transforming the organisation, which is already a highly regarded brand, into a company which delivers international best practice in student accommodation.

Prior to joining UniLodge, Keith held management positions in international hotels and apartments within groups such as Mayfair Crest, Ramada group, Medina and Swiss Garden hotels and resorts.

Prior to joining the company, Lan has previously held senior accounting roles with Principal Global Investors, BT Funds Management, Macquarie Goodman and Axiom Fund Management.

Karen is a services marketing specialist and develops and implements strategy to maximise all elements of the services marketing mix - price, product, promotion, place, people, processes and the physical environment.

Karen has spent the last 7 years at university furthering her knowledge in marketing, entrepreneurship and business. She has worked primarily in casino / hotels and most recently Queensland Transport.

Her work over many years as an executive team member has encompassed all facets of marketing and communications to include corporate and internal communications, media and issues management, stakeholder and event management, public relations, direct, electronic and relationship marketing (CRM), promotions, advertising and brand management.

At UniLodge, Karen is responsible for marketing UniLodge properties internationally and domestically as well as communications to a broad range of stakeholders.
