| UniLodge @ ANU – Davey Lodge (why Davey?) |
| On 3 April 2009, UniLodge @ ANU officially named its first 500 bed student accommodation site after one of ANU's much loved Scholar‘s, Mr Matthew Davey. Matthew Davey won the highest medal for academic achievement at ANU in 1996, the Tillyard Medal. Said to be more than a student – he was also a talented doctor, ballroom dancing instructor, judo instructor, record–holding paragliding pilot, St John‘s ambulance volunteer, part time actor/dancer, website guru and decorated navy reservist. |
 |
| Matthew Davey lost his life in 2005 at the age of 32, in a Navy Helicopter crash whilst giving medical aid to others. UniLodge and ANU thought the renaming of their first and finest student accommodation building after such an individual as Matthew Davey would give all its residents someone to identify with and someone for them to inspire to be like. Mathew’s photo is attached. |
