Our new GM of Marcoms
At UniLodge there are lots of changes! We have recently said goodbye to Marion Moore, our General Manager of Marketing (since 2004), and wished her well in all future endeavours. And, into the hot seat we welcomed Karen Vanderpols. Karen is a services marketing specialist with loads of experience mainly in casinos, hotels and government. Luckily for us Karen is a university student too and has spent the last seven years in academic studies and is bursting to use all that new knowledge and know how. Change is inevitable!

Our new COO
Many of you may not have met Eleanor Davidson, our relatively new Chief Operating Officer, affectionately know to us here as L (or EL). Eleanor has an amazing background in senior executive positions with some BIG hotel brands. EL was also the Queensland Winner of the 2006 Telstra Business Woman of the Year. There is no doubt she is a mover and a shaker and is making changes throughout our business resulting in improvements in efficiency, quality, innovation and customer responsiveness.

More changes coming
Both these new UniLodges will offer more services than ever before from a full range of business services, linen, kitchen and stationery packs through to cleaning services. We are also introducing an innovative student program in 2009 aimed at ensuring students get the most from university living. This new program is Community Spirit. We will share more details about this next edition.

UniLodge in the Adelaide CBD will be welcoming residents for the first time from semester one 2009. This contemporary, purposely designed apartment building has a mix of 300 fully furnished one and two bedroom apartments – some with fantastic city views. The product offering including the facilities and services have been designed with consideration to our latest student survey results – meaning what student’s value has been included. The property is a short walk to Uni SA and University of Adelaide and its CBD location means it’s conveniently located to all amenities. There are many multi-functional areas for recreation including an awesome
roof top barbeque and gardened terraces, computer lab, games room and large lounge with flat screen TV. There is a security intercom system in place, and personalised proximity cards are required for in and around the building with a separate lock for room access. Apartments offer a study desk, kitchen and dining table – items our students value. We think the pictures tell a great story about this exciting addition to the UniLodge portfolio.

Student living doesn’t mean living in a box anymore. ANU 2, the newest of our two Canberra UniLodges will be home to 500 residents – it’s close to the city and five minutes to lectures! Study and social hangouts are bright, playful and fun, aimed to enhance social interaction or provide the necessary requirements for concentration and focus for those deep in studies. This brilliantly designed building offers – large lounge with flat screen TV and Foxtel, two sound proofed music rooms, computer lab, barbeque and outdoor areas, three study and two reading rooms and secure bike racks and car parking. Residents will enjoy internal security that provides peace of mind and protection. There is a range
of apartments from studios to six bedroom multi–share, all with kitchens and study desks. The smart designs are focused on maximising space and creating harmony. Many apartments include balconies for fresh air and entertainment with large open plan living rooms – there is room to move! This is an innovation worth waiting for and we’ll be opening from semester one, 2009.
