Last newsletter we introduced you to our newest member to the UniLodge family and promised more on this great property…
UniLodge on A’Beckett, formerly known as Taylors on A’Beckett (TOAB), is a student accommodation facility established to offer premium accommodation to international and country students. It’s just minutes from RMIT! We offer a variety of accommodation – hostel and apartment living. This issue we feature our apartments….
The apartments are fully furnished (lounge chairs, dining table with chairs, desk and desk lamp, wardrobe and drawers), heated and offer a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. On each apartment floor there is a laundry with a coin operated washing machine and clothes dryer, and rubbish disposal chutes. The studio apartments provide single accommodation in a bed sitting area with a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. Every apartment offers a telephone line, data line and TV aerial connection.

About Your Shop
We are committed to listening to our customers’ feedback and remaining responsive to their needs. The most effective method to gauge not only how well we are doing but what other services our residents value is through our customer (student) satisfaction survey which we undertake regularly, throughout all our properties across Australia and New Zealand.
There has been much feedback on students wanting to be able to move straight into an apartment and not having to worry about finding good value shops in a new city. Students indicated they often arrived on late flights and many shops were closed – could we help? Well yes we did – and towards the end of 2008 we built our solution – an online shop catering to students! You may be interested to review this new initiative at www.yourshop.unilodge.com.au.
Community Spirit – in action    
We have talked lots about our new student life program over many issues – another development is our new web feature. And, each of our properties have their own student social photos – to view these you need to go to each property landing page and follow the Community Spirit logo. Property news  
UniLodge care for around $500 million dollars in assets! That means there are always continuous developments taking place, and a plethora of other activity too – here are some snip bits.  
During the past few months there have been some exciting changes at UniLodge on Flinders. The ground floor lobby has been painted with a fresh new look, furniture has also been re-arranged to create a better vibe. New front loading washing machines have been installed along with new dryers. The basement has been painted in new colours and shortly the carpet will be replaced too.  
The kitchens at UniLodge @ Melbourne are being refurbished! The new kitchens include completely new floor coverings, brand new stainless steel ovens and cook tops along with brand new range hoods. The renovations began at the end of November and are expected to be completed before the start of the 2009 student intake.  
UniLodge on Lonsdale have just donated all their unwanted quilts and pillows to Wesley City Mission.  
UniLodge @ Swinburne Place has just installed a new sunshade sail/canopy in the courtyard – students love it!  
 
At UniLodge @ UNSW a super sized resident notice board has been placed in the lobby – great for promoting to students all the up and coming Community Spirit activities and other important messages.  
 
New laser printers at UniLodge Brisbane will sure to be a hit with students and so will the replacement of existing lights, with new energy saving ones.  
 
Lots of activity at UniLodge @ ANU – over 70 interviews conducted for Resident Advisers and Community Advisers roles for 2009. (The overall support behind the new Community Spirit program and general willingness to get involved and make a difference in one’s environment is truly amazing). A new retail section to open early 2009.  
   
Our new multicultural video  
Just before Christmas our GM of Marketing, Karen Vanderpols, rounded up a group of enthusiastic residents at UniLodge Brisbane ready for the filming of our new multicultural video. This picture shows all those great STARS with our CEO Peter Bates who dropped by to say hello and thank the residents. Wow – what diversity, we have students studying in Brisbane from India, Japan, Singapore, France, Mauritius, China, USA, Canada and even Iceland! The videos objectives were two fold – first to show just what a fab property UniLodge Brisbane is – and to get a feel on the great community spirit we have. Marketing update  
With our website attracting some 200,000+ visitors each month and Generation X and Y’s increasing expectations – ongoing website developments are important. We are focused on ensuring that each UniLodge property has all the information at hand for students – so we have included questions and answers, fact sheets and e–brochures. For Generations X and Y there is a big focus on social networking – some experts believe that in the not so distant future the only way to get the attention of these customers will be through social networks – traditional advertising therefore ineffective. So, we are developing a broad range of these new media tools to be shared by friends throughout their network. Check out our latest interactive brochures – one features our Melbourne properties and the other is all about UniLodge @ ANU.
