UniLodge Winter Welcome Party

UniLodge@UNSW hosted the Welcome party for our new residents under the theme "Winter Welcome Party" with so many beautiful decorations snowflakes, snowmen and lots of blue and white balloons it was easy to see why everyone had so much fun! Residents came to the party dressed in blue and white which also helped to create the cool ambience!!

The main focus of this party was "The UniLodge Final Pool Competition" Our winner this year is "Calvin Li" Congratulations! You have done very well.

We hope you all had a fantastic time, and have made many more new friends!The staff & Committee members look forward to seeing you all at our next party,and don't forget to keep a look out for future CSP events! :)

Walk it off

Randwick City Council are offering prizes with a total value of $3,000, including Crumpler bags and $100 meal vouchers to be used at participating cafe's or restaurants.

The initiative features a loyalty card, which will be stamped each time residents present it at participating cafes and restaurants.

Participants must spend at least $8.00 on food items in order to receive a stamp.

Once fully stamped, the loyalty cards are returned to the Council and participating residents will go into the prize draw.

Loyalty cards will be distributed in the immediate vicinity of the Kensington and Kingsford town centres, but the program is also open to other interested residents.

Walk it Off begins on the 19th July and runs until the end of September 2010.

· 125g butter, softened
· 3/4 cup (115g) plain flour
· 1/4 cup (45g) pure icing sugar
· 1/3 cup (50g) cornflour
· 1 tsp finely grated lemon rind

· Passionfruit filling
· 60g butter, softened
· 1 cup (150g) pure icing sugar
· 1 passionfruit
· 2 tsp lemon juice

Pool Table

While the Pool Table may be free, the pool cues are not!
In the last month we have had to buy several cues, and check up on the camera to see who has broken them... (Yes we know who you are!)

You may complain that the cues are not good quality, well why should we buy expensive ones, when none of you take any care of them?
We can see you all throwing them on the floor, playing martial arts and leaving them lying all over the couches...

If you can't respect Unilodge property on your own then we are happy to make it easy for you!

If there is no improvement, then we can make the pool table rules the same as the table tennis, I.D & $$$ deposit for the cues!

Generous lawyer

A local United Way office realized that the organization had never received a donation from the town's most successful lawyer. The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute.

"Our research shows that out of a yearly income of at least $500,000, you give not a penny to charity. Wouldn't you like to give back to the community in some way?"

The lawyer mulled this over for a moment and replied, "First, did your research also show that my mother is dying after a long illness, and has medical bills that are several times her annual income?"

Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbled, "Um ... no."

The lawyer interrupts, "or that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair?"

The stricken United Way rep began to stammer out an apology, but was interrupted again.

"Or that my sister's husband died in a traffic accident," the lawyer's voice rising in indignation, "leaving her penniless with three children?!"

The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, said simply, "I had no idea..."

On a roll, the lawyer cut him off once again, "So if I don't give any money to them, why should I give any to you?"
