Following the completion of the survey, we have randomly selected the winner for our major prize - a $500 prepaid Visa card. Last year a Sydney student took out the prize.. but this year our winner is from down south, Melbourne to be exact.
Congratulations to Cheng from UniLodge @ Melbourne!!!
Bradley Brown, Property Manager - Operations, at UniLodge @ Melbourne personally delivered the prize to Cheng who was pleasantly surprised at his win "I was so surprised when I knew that I was the winner of the $500 prize! That's because I was just hoping for a movie ticket, now it turns out to be 50 movie tickets! Ha ha. It's awesome! Thanks UniLodge!"
Congratulations once again to Cheng we hope you enjoy your prize. Also a big thank you to all of the students who took the time out to complete the survey - your feedback is greatly appreciated and a valuable tool which will allow us to improve our product and most importantly increase our level of customer service.

 | Student Survey WINNER!! & Best Advise Congratulations Michelle Si Lin, You provided the most helpful information in the 2010 UniLodge Online Survey. Your information could help for future UniLodge projects in the future. Your comment was:
"....the centralised air-con system (could be improved) because when you have five people in a multishare apartment it can be challenging to find a temperature that makes everyone happy."
Of course there was a lot of other useful information from other residents and that too will be taken into consideration.
Thank you EVERYONE who participated in this years Survey. Results and some changes will be coming soon.
Thank you. UniLodge @ UNSW Management.

 | Safety & Security - IMPORTANT for all Residents "YOU"...This information is for you.
I think everyone worries a little about Security and Safety from time to time. Here at UniLodge we are very secure and provide a safe place to live but at the same time you the residents together with staff can make it even safer. By following simply policies we have here we can ensure UniLodge @ UNSW is the safest place around.
Visitors - No one likes strangers around their building...particularly at night. This is why we ask all non-residents to vacant the building by 10pm. The less strangers the better. If you have a friend who you would like to stay over please complete the form at reception. Remember this person must be of the same gender and you are responsible for that person.
Under 18? - We want to provide you guys the best possible security. To do this you need to make sure the two main rules for you are followed. Nightly Sign-In. This shows us you are safe and sound inside. 10pm curfew. Be back by 10pm to ensure you are in the safety of the UniLodge building. After 10pm in a big city like Sydney you never no what might happen. If your parents are in town of course you can stay out late with them.
Strangers - To add to the first point....dont let people you dont know into the building. If someone is waiting outside they can wait there until their friend comes along. If they dont know anyone here they shouldnt come in side anyway.
So with help from the residents and staff we can make sure UniLodge @ UNSW is the safest place around. Thanks

 | Fire Alarms - Dont worry, just take care. To avoid receiving a Fire Brigade call out fee charge please take care with:
- Cooking on the stove. Use the overhead rangehood always. And keep smoke to a minimum. Possibly open some windows if smoke is apparent.
- Microwave use. Do not place plastic or metal in the microwave ever. Also do not leave item in there for extended amounts of time. If anything cook a little at the time if you are not sure.
- Steam from Kettle or Shower. Be aware that even steam can set off an alarm. Take with steam from a shower come out of a bathroom door or a kettle under a detector.
Take easy steps and use common sense to avoid charges. In the event of a fire alarm please evacuate from the building. Treat every alarm seriously...as you never know when it could be for real.

 | Jims Joke Corner - How to Win A defendant in a lawsuit involving large sums of money was talking to his lawyer. "If I lose this case, I'll be ruined." "It's in the judge's hands now," said the lawyer. "Would it help if I sent the judge a box of cigars?" "Oh no! This judge is a stickler or ethical behavior. A stunt like that would prejudice him against you. He might even hold you in contempt of court. In fact, you shouldn't even smile at the judge." Within the course of time, the judge rendered a decision in favor of the defendant.. As the defendant left the courthouse, he said to his lawyer, "Thanks for the tip about the cigars. It worked!" "I'm sure we would have lost the case if you'd sent them." "But, I did send them." "What? You did?" said the lawyer, incredulously. "Yes. That's how we won the case." "I don't understand," said the lawyer. "It's easy. I sent the cigars to the judge, but enclosed the plaintiff's business card."
