David Beckam - Achilles

You may have heard a lot about David Beckham and his Achilles in the news recently. But what is Achilles? Achilles was a mythical Greek hero in the Trojan War. Legend has it that Achilles was a great warrior and invulnerable in all his body except his heel. This later lead to the expression‚ Achilles heel‚ to describe one's main weakness as it was another mythical Greek character called Paris that shot Achilles in the heel leading to his death during the War of Troy. In medical terms, the Achilles tendon passes behind the ankle and is the thickest and strongest tendon in the human body. It connects the muscles from your calf to your heels giving you strength in to withstand your body weight while you walk, run, jump and even tip-toeing. A good way to look after your Achilles is to warm up and cool down properly before and after sporting activities.

Pool Table - Re-Clothed

As you would have seen our Pool Table is in great condition and is looking beautiful right now. Its just been re clothed and is in great shape.

To keep it looking good and in good quality this lets all look after it. This means no drinks around the side of the table, a spilt drink is all we need to ruin it quickly. Also be careful with your trick jump shots, this is how the table cloth is torn.

In the meantime enjoy your new table!!

Jims Thoughts on English

Have you ever wondered why foreigners have trouble with the English Language?
Lets face it
English is a stupid language.
There is no egg in the eggplant
No ham in the hamburger
And neither pine nor apple in the pineapple.
English muffins were not invented in England
French fries were not invented in France.
We sometimes take English for granted
But if we examine its paradoxes we find that
Quicksand takes you down slowly
Boxing rings are square
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
If writers write, how come fingers don't fing.
If the plural of tooth is teeth
Shouldn't the plural of phone booth be phone beeth
If the teacher taught,
Why didn't the preacher praught.
If a vegetarian eats vegetables
What the heck does a humanitarian eat!?
Why do people recite at a play
Yet play at a recital?
Park on driveways and
Drive on parkways
English was invented by people, not computers
And it reflects the creativity of the human race
(Which of course isn't a race at all)
That is why
When the stars are out they are visible
But when the lights are out they are invisible
And why it is that when I wind up my watch
It starts
But when I wind up this observation,
It ends.

Fire Alarms - Reminder

To avoid receiving a Fire Brigade call out fee charge please take care with:

- Cooking on the stove. Use the overhead rangehood always. And keep smoke to a minimum. Possibly open some windows if smoke is apparent.

- Microwave use. Do not place plastic or metal in the microwave ever. Also do not leave item in there for extended amounts of time. If anything cook a little at the time if you are not sure.

- Steam from Kettle or Shower. Be aware that even steam can set off an alarm. Take with steam from a shower come out of a bathroom door or a kettle under a detector.

Take easy steps and use common sense to avoid charges. In the event of a fire alarm please evacuate from the building. Treat every alarm seriously...as you never know when it could be for real.

Noise

Just a friendly reminder to keep the noise down. This is during the evening and during the day. At times during the day noise levels are high coming from some common rooms. Even though its daytime noise still disturbs others at times.

Thanks for taking this into consideration.
